The SUPER STATION
was developed and patented in 1987 By Burcon Inc. and marketed under the
name Stow-Away. The product, at its inception was a control system only,
which included an enclosure that buried in the ground. The Stow-Away control
panel would pivot on an arm from its enclosure to a position above ground
making the control panel accessible for inspection and maintenance. The
Stow-Away control panel was designed and used primarily on sewage pumping
stations to improve the esthetic value of the site.
In 1989 the addition
of a wet well access chamber and a valve vault chamber to the below ground
control panel completed the design of a packaged pumping station which
mounted to the top of a concrete or fiberglass wet well. This basic design
is still in use today as the SUPER STATION.
In 1992 the below
ground control system was redesigned eliminating the pivot arm in favor of a
two sided back plate which rose vertically from an enclosure exposing the
controls for inspection and maintenance.
1994 Saw the
addition of an above ground control panel configuration to the SUPER
STATION offering a complete pump station system at a price level
competitive with a conventional pump station design.
In 2002 new patents
were applied for as new materials became available in the market allowing
design enhancements to the below ground control system. The below ground
control system is now enclosed in a conventional NEMA 4X enclosure and rises
vertically from the SUPER STATION. These changes have prompted new
pricing on the below grade enclosure which make this design as, or more
economical than the above grade control system.
Also in 2002 new
patents were applied for and the COMPACT SUPER STATION is now being
introduced. This packaged pumping station fits inside of a 60" or 72"
diameter concrete or fiberglass wet well structure or retrofits to any size
existing wet well and offers more working space at a substantial cost
savings over the original SUPER STATION design. This new system is
available with both the above and below grade control packages. We are
confident this new design will become the standard used by the industry for
submersible pumping stations due to its economy, friendly working
environment and its ease of installation.
